Professional Development
Professional Development Fund
Our professional development fund is negotiated as part of our LINC agreement with the school division. As set out in Article 5.1 of our LINC agreement, the board provides an annual dollar amount as a Professional Development Fund. This is equal to 0.59% and of the previous year’s instructional salaries for teachers, consultants, coordinators, vice-principals and principals. Allocation of the Professional Development Fund is currently as follows:
A. 25% Director of Education
B. 75% RCSTA Teacher Committee divided as follows:
1. Pre-K – 12 teachers 57 %
*at least 7% of these funds will be designated to teacher wellness (including all three teacher groups).
2. School-based administrators (Principal/VP) 16 %
3. Coordinators and consultants 2 %
The P.D. funds guiding document and procedures can be found here.
How to Apply for P.D. Funds?
Step 1 - Obtaining Approval:
The teacher must complete the "estimated expense" column of Form 100, and have their supervisor sign it. Forms must be submitted to [email protected] no less than two weeks prior to the event or class beginning. Please pay particular attention to the "relevancy to your assignment box". The original form is to be kept on file by the teacher for later reimbursement.
Step 2 - Obtaining Reimbursement:
Within two weeks of the the P.D. or class, the teacher must fill out the "actual expense column" of the original form 100. Proof of payment and proof of passing/completion must also be submitted at this time along with the original form 100. It can be sent in the mail bag addressed to RCSTA, or it can be emailed to [email protected]. If emailing, it is important to ensure that your documents are printable and legible. This must be done within two weeks of the P.D. being completed.
When completing a P.D. application request, it is important to answer the "relevancy to your assignment" question in detail. The request must be submitted two weeks before the event or class begins, and submitted with supporting documents (proof of payment and passing) within two weeks of it ending. For P.D. involving travel, the request should be submitted 6 weeks prior.
We are Transitioning to an Online JotForm (Spring 2024):
In order to expedite the approval and reimbursement process we are switching to online JotForms which can be found below. Tuition and P.D. each have their own form; one for an application or request, and another to submit for reimbursement.
